Rental Car Extras at Tivat Airport
Most listings let you request a few add-ons alongside the car. Some are essential (child seats if you are [travelling with children](/7-seater-car-rental)), some are handy for a particular trip, and some you can skip and bring from home. Prices are shown per listing when you book.
Here is what is available and whether it is worth adding. Exact prices appear on each car's listing at checkout, never as a surprise at pickup.
Child Seats
Montenegro law requires young children to travel in an appropriate restraint. You can add the right seat with the car:
- Infant carrier (Group 0+, from birth to about one year)
- Child seat (toddlers, roughly one to four years)
- Booster seat (older children, up to about twelve years)
Book in advance, availability is limited in summer. If you are bringing your own ISOFIX seat from home, check the vehicle listing to confirm it has ISOFIX anchor points. Most mid-size and larger cars have them; some economy cars do not.
Tip
Bringing your own seat from home is free and guarantees availability. Airlines usually carry car seats as checked or gate-checked luggage at no extra charge.
Navigation
We do not rent GPS or sat-nav units, and you do not need one. Google Maps or Waze on your phone works well across Montenegro, including the Vrmac and Sozina tunnels.
Download the Montenegro offline map before you fly and you will have reliable routing even where signal is patchy, with no daily fee. A phone mount is worth packing.
Tip
Plan your route before you leave the car park. Mobile signal is good on the main coastal roads but can drop on some mountain passes.
Roof Racks & Ski Boxes
Roof racks, and ski boxes for winter, can be requested at booking rather than on the day, so ask for them when you reserve.
Useful if you are bringing bikes to ride along the bay, or ski gear for Kolasin or Zabljak in winter. Otherwise the boot of a mid-size car handles most luggage.
Snow Chains
Snow chains can be added to a winter rental. Montenegro law requires chains to be carried (not necessarily fitted) on certain mountain roads from November to April.
If you are driving to Zabljak, Kolasin, or over the Krstac pass in winter, keep chains in the boot. Your provider can show you how to fit them at pickup if you ask.
Mobile Hotspot & SIM
A portable hotspot or a local SIM can be added with the car if you want connectivity from the moment you land.
A local Montenegro SIM with generous data is inexpensive and sold at the kiosk in Tivat Airport arrivals. Many EU plans also include Montenegro roaming, so check yours before paying for anything extra.
