How one-way rental works in Montenegro

A one-way rental lets you collect your car in one place and return it in another, so your route does not have to double back. It suits a coast-to-capital trip, a bay-then-mountains loop, or simply flying into one airport and out of another within Montenegro.

How it works is simple: you choose your pickup and your drop-off when you book, and the live price reflects any one-way fee for that pairing. The car is collected and returned just as a normal rental, with the same documents and deposit.

Pickup and drop-off points

The two Montenegrin airports anchor most one-way trips. Many travellers fly into Tivat Airport for the coast and out of Podgorica Airport after the lake and the north, collecting and returning the car at each.

Around the bay, Kotor and Tivat are common pairings with the Budva Riviera, and the short distances keep one-way fees modest. Budva works well as either a start or an end point for a coastal run.

Inland, Podgorica links the coast to the lake and the mountains, making it a natural drop-off after a touring loop that began on the bay.

What is not supported

Cross-border one-way drop-offs are not offered. A car rented in Montenegro must be returned in Montenegro, and a car rented in Croatia must go back to Croatia. There is no option to collect in one country and leave the car in another.

Decide your start and end points first, then check the one-way fee for that pairing as you book, since it varies with distance. Shorter bay-to-Budva hops cost little; a coast-to-capital one-way carries a larger fee but can still beat backtracking.
