Your First Montenegro Rental
Montenegro is small enough to drive end to end in four hours, but the roads are winding, the scenery is distracting, and the rental process has a few details worth knowing before you land.

Documents You Need
A valid driving licence with Latin script, your passport, and a physical credit card in the main driver's name. Some economy cars accept debit cards — look for the card-free badge when searching.
Understanding Deposits
Most vehicles require a deposit blocked on your credit card at pickup. Economy cars may need €100–€200, premium vehicles €500+. The deposit is released when you return the car undamaged.
Fuel Policy
Full-to-full is standard: you collect with a full tank and return it full. Fuel stations are easy to find along main routes. The nearest to TIV is 800m on the road toward Tivat town.
Driving Rules
Drive on the right. Speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 80 km/h on open roads. Headlights must be on at all times from November to March. Zero alcohol tolerance is strictly enforced.
